Q: How do I tune to an HD-2 station?

1.       Make sure incoming signal strength is adequate. On the M2, we like to see a minimum of three bars.

2.       After the HD LOCKED indicator illuminates, confirm that an HD-2 signal is present by checking the MULTICAST indicator.

3.       If MULTICAST is on, press and release the MODE-SERVICE button.

4.       The unit switches to the HD-2 channel.

5.       To return to HD-1, press and release the MODE-SERVICE button.

Q: How do I tune to an HD-3 station (and higher)?
    1. Make sure incoming signal strength is adequate. On the M2, we like to see a minimum of three bars.
    2. With the unit receiving HD-1 and the “HD LOCKED” and “MULTICAST” LED illuminated, press and release the “MODE-SERVICE” button. The unit should then switch to HD-2.
    3. Press the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons below the VFD to scroll through the available multicast channels.
    4. To return to HD-1, press and release the MODE-SERVICE button.

Q: When we tune in our HD-2 and HD-3 streams the display says "Undefined.” When we tune these streams on any other receivers their displays say WKNO-2 and WKNO-3. Do we need a software upgrade?

A: No. Other tuners usually display only your SIS and PAD when tuned to multicast streams, and that’s what you’re seeing. Your DaySequerra gives you much more information. When monitoring any multicast stream, our first field is “Genre” (think of this as “Station Type”), followed by “Title,” “Artist” and “Album.” Then the fields repeat. Therefore, if you’re not sending specific information in any of these fields they will display as “Undefined.”

Q: How do I save a station as a Preset?

    1. Tip: If you’ve got lots of stations you want to save, it’s easier if you make a list. Number the AM stations A1 through A20. Number the FM stations F1 through F20.
    2. Press the TUNER BAND Button and select the band for the station you wish to save, either AM or FM.
    3. Tune to the station. If you want to save an HD-2 (or higher) station, switch to it by pressing the MODE-SERVICE button and scrolling UP or DOWN as necessary.
    4. Press and hold the SELECT button until the PRESETS LED flashes.
    5. Press the UP or DOWN button to move to the Preset address you want to use for this station (A1 through A20 for AM, F1 through F20 for FM).
    6. Press and release the SELECT button to store the station.

Q: I have an older M4 Tuner with Phoenix connectors. What’s the pinout?

A: Reading left to right, it’s PLUS, MINUS, GROUND for all three connectors.

Q: Our DaySequerra M2 and M4 units are early models. I understand there is a firmware upgrade available. What can you tell me about this?

A: We have made a number of improvements to the M4 and M2 units since they were first shipped. In all probability, your unit may need to be returned to us for an iBiquity tuner update. Here’s how to tell:

    1. Cycle the power and note the two firmware version numbers that are briefly displayed while the unit boots. You may have to do this a few times to catch all the digits accurately.
    2. The first number, beginning with a lower case v., is our DaySequerra firmware revision number, used in the unit’s internal logic. This firmware is contained on a socketed PIC, easily replaced in the field (or flashed through the unit’s Ethernet port, if so equipped).
    3. The second number, beginning with an upper case A., is the iBiquity tuner firmware. It is programmed into the tuner module and the reprogramming needs to be done here at the factory. If your version is A3.2.0, we’ll need to get the unit back.

Please let us know what you see, and we’ll respond promptly with a Return Authorization Number and return instructions for your unit(s). Any firmware update we perform will be done at no charge if you ship your unit(s) to us freight prepaid. We will pay for return shipping via UPS Surface within the continental U.S.

If you’re returning an M4 unit to us for firmware updates, please note that you can upgrade it to add our PLM – Performance Loss Module option. PLM gives you six dry, floating alarm relays to monitor your audio program, carrier level, PAD data, OFDM lock, Multicast Available and Delay Bit status. Or, you can go all the way and upgrade your M4 to a full M4.2R.

If you’re returning an M2, you can either add the PLM Module or upgrade your unit to include all the features of the M2.2R. Details of our Upgrade Program appear on our price list.
